Working with Wildlife Experience

Join the Women’s Travel Club for one of the most meaningful and unforgettable wildlife experiences we offer. This extraordinary journey combines authentic African safari adventure with hands-on conservation, creating an experience that past guests consistently describe as the best safari of their lives.

Travel as part of a small, purpose-driven group to a 240,000-acre, malaria-free, Big Five private game reserve in South Africa’s remote Kalahari Desert. Here, you’ll be immersed in real conservation work, gaining insight into the challenges facing African wildlife today while actively contributing to efforts that protect and preserve these magnificent animals for future generations.

This is not a typical safari. Free from rigid schedules and crowded vehicles, you’ll spend time tracking animals in their natural habitat alongside conservation professionals, observing wildlife behavior in a way few travelers ever experience. It’s a rare opportunity to step beyond tourism, connect deeply with the land and its wildlife, and give something meaningful back to the continent — all while enjoying an exceptional and inspiring safari experience.

ACTIVITIES

Daily activities will vary depending on what is needed. As the reserve is situated in one of the most remote parts of the country, it offers guests some of the most incredible star-gazing opportunities imaginable due to the absence of light pollution from nearby cities and towns. In fact, the area was chosen by a group of astronomers as their ideal location to study stars. Beyond their large and highly specialized anti-poaching team, the reserve is run by a small team of professionals. The reserve simply does not have the necessary hands required to conduct their much-needed field work. This adventure and eco-safari project is designed to contribute to the reserve’s ecological needs by assisting with game counts, wildlife research, vegetation surveys, and so much more! Together, these are the tools needed to ensure a balanced ecosystem is maintained, and that the ultimate goal of restoring the Kalahari to its natural state is achieved. Working with Wildlife is proud to be the reserve’s exclusive partner in offering such conservation experiences.

Mornings are usually focused on vegetation surveys, applying herbicides to alien invasive species, game counts, or checking camera traps. Afternoons are more often dedicated to predator monitoring. That said, every day can bring something unexpected, as often happens in nature.
